- Rated 1 out of 5by UPukaJRm, a year agoAfter days of flickering URLs driving me crazy, I finally spent an hour or so disabling and testing a simple ddg.co search for the flickering issue.
The flicking URL is caused by ClearURLs!
Too bad but it drives me nuts and no matter the positive features of the add-on, it has to go.
Thanks to the dev for the pre-flickering usefulness and best of luck debugging the problem.Developer response

At first, there was just a flicker in the URL. The developer was informed and promised an update, but I installed the latest version (1.27.1) dated January 15, 2025, and it's worse than before, it doesn't work at all. Web pages slow down considerably, to the point of freezing my computer and having to restart it.

For example, on YouTube, when I search for "Test Video", the params in the URL should look like this: "results?search_query=Test+Video&sp=CAI%253D," but the addon removes the "&sp" param, destroying my filter, and the URL is like flickering because it removes and adds the + multiple times until the URL is so broken that the website freezes or is lagging when scrolling. When clicking on a video, the URL gets completely destroyed and gets a mix-up of the search and video URLs, or sometimes it just doesn't show the video URL and removes all params and just shows the base URL.
In this state, the addon is not usable.Developer response

- Rated 2 out of 5by DD, a year agoUsed it for awhile, but recently it started breaking all sites, due tinkering with the url removing important parts.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Sul, a year agoHad to deactivate it because of some legit search forms not filling in real-time, and because of issues with the 'sign-in with a google account' feature of many websites

- Rated 2 out of 5by Arya, a year agoBreaks firefox on basically all google-owned apps. You can visually see the URL flickering between what it should be and what ClearURLs is shortening. On YouTube, it does this unnecessarily, but accidentally triggers a load every time - opening a youtube tab with this extension enabled managed to rack up 30GB of RAM usage.

- Rated 3 out of 5by Silencer, a year agoIt has worked great, but lately as someone else has mentioned it causes my computer and the CPU to go crazy, several websites are affected, DuckDuckGo, Google, YouTube, Soundcloud and more. I spent days now trying to troubleshoot what was causing it (I have many extensions) and the moment I disabled this one, the cpu fans slowed down and my system is back to normal. Responsive and snappy.
